Program Description:

The Arizona in Russia study abroad program is an outreach effort of the Department of Russian and Slavic Studies of the University of Arizona, which accepts students of Russian at all levels of instruction. The thousands of alumni of this study abroad program come from over 100 colleges and universities throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Initially, the program began with summer travel and have expanded to the current nine program options per year, which include summer, semester, and academic year language and business internship programs. The programs are overseen by Professor Del Phillips, University Distinguished Professor and veteran of over 35 years of experience leading student groups to Russia.

Language Programs in St. Petersburg and Moscow:
The Arizona in Russia study abroad program offerings are considered to be among the premiere Russian language training programs. The program offers a full battery of courses, lectures, and excursions that provide participants with invaluable training and experience in the Russian language. A carefully planned curriculum includes intensive small group instruction as well as individual tutorials. Courses range from Russian grammar, conversation and phonetics to literature, newspaper reading, composition, and business Russian. The curriculum focuses on training students to receive official proficiency status from the government of the Russian Federation.

Business Internship Programs in Moscow:
The Arizona in Russia Business Internship programs in Moscow allow students to study Russian for the purpose of basic communication and to utilize this knowledge directly on the job. Internships are especially suited to students with higher Russian language ability. While there are internships for beginning Russian students, more internships are available for students who have intermediate Russian skills and above. Russian language instruction is typically taken simultaneously during the internship period. The language programs serve students on all levels.

*New Russian Studies Track in Moscow*
Starting in Summer 2014, the Russian studies track is offered as an alternative to the language track and allows students to focus primarily on Russian studies courses while abroad.
