UOW is one of the world’s most respected young universities, situated on an 83-acre campus nestled between beautiful bushland and the stunning coastline. Studying at UOW allows you to learn from some of the brightest minds, as the institution is recognized globally for its academic excellence and its graduates are ranked amongst the highest in the world. Being Australia’s 9th largest city and located so close to Sydney, Wollongong is a vibrant location that offers the perfect study abroad experience with the quintessential Australian lifestyle. The location is perfect for those wishing to access the events and nightlife of Sydney, yet live and study in a quieter, more intimate, and affordable community that’s popular with students who love the outdoors.

This diverse and multicultural university offers comprehensive course offerings, from robotics to indigenous studies within a highly personalized student environment. The university has great strength in Business; Engineering and Information Sciences; Humanities; Science; and Health and Social Sciences. The Study Abroad office and Student Support Services allow you to settle quickly and make friends easily in this very welcoming and social campus.

  • Arcadia students at UOW live in student housing that ranges from flexi-catered apartments just off-campus to self-catered facilities on campus.

  • Courses in developmental and social psychology, cognition, and perception tend to match with courses required in most psychology curricula in US higher education.

  • Courses in business, engineering, humanities, and the health sciences are extremely strong at UOW, transferring well to institutions across the US.

  • The city of Wollongong is surrounded by a national park and has 17 patrolled beaches – the perfect environment for an amazing range of recreational activities, from swimming and surfing to parasailing, windsurfing, fishing, sailing, scuba diving, biking, hiking, and mountain climbing. Hike up Mt Keira for sunrise and head to the beach for sunset.

  • Free bus service to/from/around the university makes getting from campus to the city, home, or the beach all that much easier.

Excursions & Activities

With Arcadia, you learn beyond the classroom. Travel to fascinating places of interest that enhance your cultural immersion and give a meaningful context to your academic courses, through Arcadia's planned excursions and activities. Arcadia Australia offers a wonderful array of excursions and activities impacted by the location of your program to bring you unique experiences. These excursions and activities range from urban locations, coastal regions, rural bushlands, rainforests, and tropical islands. They provide you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture, environment, traditions, and with the people of these places. You will try new foods, learn new skills, explore incredible places, and learn about the Indigenous peoples of Australia.
