Arcadia - Oxford Web Banner
The world’s oldest English-speaking university

The first of Oxford's colleges were founded in the 1200s, and there is evidence of teaching at Oxford that dates back to 1096, making Oxford University the oldest English-speaking university. The University of Oxford also consistently ranks as the top university globally. It’s easy to understand why a semester at the University of Oxford is a sought-after experience for many students — its academic status as one of the world’s elite universities paired with its illustrious history makes it a great program option if you thrive on the challenge of independent study. As an Arcadia student, you have full visiting student status which includes access to the world-renowned Bodleian Library and more. You will be able to study the sciences, social sciences, or arts at one of six colleges: St. Anne’s, St. Catherine’s, St. Edmund Hall, Lady Margaret Hall, Mansfield College, or Hertford College. If you are a Junior or Senior level student and have an excellent academic background, this might be a good program for you.

  • You’ll benefit from Oxford’s renowned tutorial system, in which you’ll meet one-on-one or in small groups with a subject tutor, which is great preparation for graduate-level work!

  • Living in Oxford, you'll be surrounded by a bustling academic and social atmosphere defined by the colleges and quads of the university. The blend of ancient clock towers with clubs and music venues, church steeples with pubs and eateries, and cloistered gardens with impressive theaters makes Oxford the quintessential college town. The quaint villages of the Cotswolds are just a short distance away, and London is an hour by train.

  • Applicants for the fall term only may be particularly interested in Hertford College, St Anne's College, and Lady Margaret Hall, where they will begin their studies a month before the official term begins. At Hertford College, students enroll in a September Pre-sessional Seminar, while at Lady Margaret Hall they will begin one of their major tutorials early as part of the Extended Michaelmas Term. Students at St Anne's can enroll in a Humanities course or tutorials designed for Pre-Med students depending on their area of study for an early start to the fall term or academic year.

  • Oxford is part of the Russell Group which represents 24 leading UK universities committed to maintaining the very best research, an outstanding teaching and learning experience, and unrivaled links with business and the public sector.

  • As this is a highly competitive opportunity for students at Junior or Senior standing with an excellent academic background, there are early application deadlines to make note of. These deadlines and important information about the Oxford Application Process can be found on the Arcadia website.
