Why Australia?
Australia offers everything from world-class beaches to a bustling economy and cities that cater to businesses and industries from all over the world. Australia is known for being a land of opportunity for both business and leisure, and its residents benefit from the uniquely laid back lifestyle that sets it apart from other western nations.  Interns who choose Australia have opportunities to pursue both their professional and personal goals, and will return home forever changed by this unique country.

Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.

Internships are located in Sydney, a majestic seaside city where culture and architecture only serve to enhance the beauty of the natural surroundings. Ringed by the Blue Mountains and accentuated by incredible white-sand beaches, Sydney boasts a world-class economy and sophisticated arts scene while simultaneously enjoying all the advantages of the great outdoors. Internships are also available in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Program Snapshot

Housing: Interns in Australia live in double rooms in shared apartments. Housing is located near public transportation. The World Endeavors onsite coordinator works to find housing that will be convenient for interns, located no more than a one hour commute away from their internship placements in Sydney.  Single rooms or homestays may also be available, for an additional fee.

Dates: Internships are available year round, and each placement is customized for the participant. This means that World Endeavors interns can choose the start date and duration of their internship, as well as the field. Due to holidays, traditional vacation schedules, and seasonal work availability, there might be better times than others to intern in a specific location or in a specific field. Our advisors work with interns to ensure that their timeframe works adequately with the internship site. This communication is a key to creating a successful internship placement.

Duration: Generally, the minimum program duration for interning in Australia is 3 months. Contact World Endeavors if you would like to go for a shorter duration.
