Volunteer Abroad in Tanzania

Why Tanzania?
Tanzania is the Africa that many dream of. Home to the towering snow-capped peaks of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the wildebeests and gazelles of the Serengeti, and the legendary spices of Zanzibar, it’s no wonder that Tanzania has captured the imaginations of many. Although it is a rising star on the tourist map, Tanzania is still a predominantly rural and agricultural society, and it has struggled to improve basic infrastructure and educational and healthcare systems. World Endeavors volunteers in Tanzania make a difference in the lives of the Tanzanian people through hard work and a commitment to promoting a brighter future for this extraordinary country.

Program Information

Live in Monduli, Tanzania
The district of Monduli is located within the Arusha region, in mountainous northeastern Tanzania, right under Mount Meru. Once a backwater and center of colonial administration, Arusha is now a thriving city and a popular starting point for trips to Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s also an important diplomatic center, as the East African Community of Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda is headquartered here. Coffee, wheat, and maize are grown in the nearby countryside and can be found for sale in the city’s busy marketplace. On their time off, volunteers can sample the city’s varied restaurants, offering Tanzanian, Ethiopian, Western, Indian, and Chinese food; and on weekends, it’s easy venture out to explore the area’s natural wonders or take a trip to the storied island city of Zanzibar.
