Study Abroad in Scotland

Why Scotland?
Bagpipes, kilts, and haggis can certainly be found in today’s Scotland. But in addition to those famous symbols, Scotland offers students a chance to experience its rich, proud history and lively academic and artistic culture. The Edinburgh International Festival, an annual event that celebrates all the arts, draws almost as many visitors each year as there are residents in the city. There’s plenty to see outside the cities too, as the highlands and lochs make for some jaw-dropping scenery. Students who travel to Scotland with World Endeavors get the chance to learn about this beautiful and complex country in depth, and the English language makes it easy to get involved in university life. And should wanderlust strike, the rest of the United Kingdom and continental Europe are just a hop, skip and a jump away.

Live in Edinburgh
Nestled in the Scottish lowlands, on the south coast of the Firth of Forth, Edinburgh is an ancient and cosmopolitan city surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. As the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is home to many important sites from the country’s history, including ancient Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament, and an abundance of historic churches, burial grounds, and monuments. But this is not a city stuck in the past: today’s Edinburgh is sophisticated and lively. The annual Edinburgh International Festival, which includes events in theater, dance, opera, music, and visual arts, is one of the biggest arts events in Europe. Whether or not there’s a major event happening in town, it’s always easy to find good food, interesting shops, and fun neighborhood pubs, and students who come to Edinburgh never run out of new things to see and do.
