Intern Abroad in Argentina

Why Intern in Argentina?
Known as the “Paris of the South”, Buenos Aires provides the perfect setting for interns who are looking for that European feel, but wish to live and intern in South America. After the economic crisis of 2001, Argentina’s economy slowly began to rise. Argentina’s economy paired with its vibrant culture gives interns a unique glimpse into their field of interest.

Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.

Program Information**

Live in Buenos Aires
In the far corner of South America rests Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. This city is known as the most European city in South America, but is dancing with Latin flair. Although the city was shaped by European immigrants centuries ago, the culture of the city has taken a shape of its own. Artists cover drab walls with splashes of bright pastels, particularly prominent in the La Boca neighborhood.   Even the presidential palace, aptly named la Casa Rosada, boasts a bright rose color from top to bottom.

Days can be filled with attending antique markets, sampling the street food and listening to street musicians, or touring the famous modern art museums.  Meet up with friends in the evening to enjoy a classic Argentine steak dinner followed by a glass of Fernet. Afterwards, attend a tango class or catch a fútbol game with some friends. No matter your interests, there is never a dull moment in Buenos Aires!

Program Snapshot

Language Training: During the first week of the program, interns will take 20 hours of Spanish language courses. These small classes are taught by certified, native Spanish speakers. Additional Spanish language courses may be added for an extra fee.  Spanish language proficiency is not a requirement for participation in the World Endeavors Intern in Argentina program.  We are able to place interns in English-speaking internship placements.

HousingWorld Endeavors interns live in an apartment style flat with an Argentine host. Participants will receive an individual room in the host’s apartment, and are allowed use of the kitchen facilities and access to wireless internet (please note that we cannot guarantee the reliability or quality of the connection). These types of housing accommodations allow for a certain level of independence, but still provide interns with the chance to practice Spanish with a native-speaker.  World Endeavors interns are expected to display respect and consideration for their Argentine host.  For an additional cost, World Endeavors can arrange more traditional homestay accommodations which include daily breakfast and dinner.

Dates: Internships are available year round, and each placement is customized for the participant. This means that World Endeavors interns can choose the start date and duration of their internship, as well as the field. Due to holidays, traditional vacation schedules, and seasonal work availability, there might be better times than others to intern in a specific location or in a specific field. Our advisors work with interns to ensure that their timeframe works adequately with the internship site. This communication is a key to creating a successful internship placement.

Duration: Generally, the minimum program duration for interning in Argentina is 2 months. Engineering, Government, and Urban Planning placements are available for a 3 month commitment from April to June or September to November. Please contact World Endeavors for more information.

Cost: See our website for program fee information
