Academic Year, Semester and Summer Study Abroad in France for College Students: University-level Courses and French Immersion

Home of the world famous Cannes Film Festival, Cannes embodies all the glamour, style and excitement of the French Riviera and is the perfect destination for a semester, summer or year abroad in France for college students. The highlights of Cannes include the charming Old Town (Le Suquet) with its winding streets bustling with outdoor cafés and restaurants, the Festival Palace, the glitzy Hotel Carlton, the sea front boulevard of Croisette , world class art galleries, beautiful sandy beaches and plenty of opportunities for water sports and other recreation. Whether you are looking to complete your junior year abroad in France, a semester abroad in France or simply a summer study abroad program specifically designed for college-level students, our academic program in Cannes can meet your needs and provide you with an exciting and enriching French immersion experience.

Abbey Road's Cannes program combines the advantages of both a world-renowned language school as our students follow the rigorous academic curriculum offered by the Collège International de Cannes (CIC), with the personalized service and support with which Abbey Road has come to be associated. As part of the University-level immersion experience during their study abroad to France, our students live on a beautiful college campus, facing a popular local beach, a short walk from the Old Town and the luxury boutiques of Rue d'Antibes. Thus, the Cannes program provides excellent opportunities to immerse yourself in French language and culture as you live and study on a centrally located campus with students from all over the world.

In Cannes, students follow the rigorous academic curriculum offered by the Collège International de Cannes (CIC). This reputable institution has a long tradition of quality inter-cultural higher education. In fact, the Collège International de Cannes is fully certified by the le Groupement FLE (a professional organization that guaranties the highest standards of the instruction of French as a foreign language), and the CIC has earned the coveted French national seal of quality in the teaching of French as a foreign language.

The curriculum provides a diversity of intensive French language classes for all levels. The classes, taught by distinguished French professors, challenge Abbey Road students to develop their proficiency in spoken and written French while allowing them to forge relationships with their classmates.

If you are looking to apply your course work at the Collège International de Cannes to your degree requirements at home, you may find that the CIC already has an agreement in place with your home institution. Contact your Abbey Road representative for the details.

Students live in a college dormitory, on a beautiful campus, just steps away from the nearest beach and an easy walk from downtown Cannes. Typically, students will share a double or triple room with their classmates. As in many college dormitories, bathrooms and showers are shared by the residents of the hall.

Students take their meals in the modern campus dining hall. On campus there are also athletic and recreational facilities, a theater auditorium, a computer lab and a café all available to our students.

During the week, students attend classes according to the schedule they establish with their course advisor. In the evening students may take advantage of the various additional options for cultural, athletic and social activities, or they may just enjoy some free time to themselves or with their friends. On weekends, many students often take exciting day trips to neighboring towns and cities.

In addition to the excitement of Cannes, students will find that the French Riviera offers an abundance of day trip possibilities. Students often choose to visit some of the many beautiful nearby sites: Monaco, Nice and its Old Town, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Beaulieu-sur-mer, Villefranche-sur-mer, not to mention the medieval, perched village of Èze.

No trip to France is complete without seeing Paris! But maybe you would prefer to visit Florence? Barcelona? London? Athens? Whatever the case, Abbey Road will work with you to plan the excursion of your dreams.
