Program Description:

GP takes you through Austria and Germany to compete with and against international lacrosse players and then drops you off in the one of the most beautiful, dynamic cities in Spain- Sevilla. In addition to playing in the most famous international tournaments, you will complete a dynamic weekly training program with the local players while in Seville. No fear of gettin' rusty this summer – this is your chance to have your cake and eat it too – study abroad AND stay in shape for season!

Seville is one of Spain's best kept secrets. From Flamenco dancing to bull fighting you will definitely be right in the
thick of Spanish culture throughout your study abroad experience. The city is known for it's architecture, friendly people and vivacious atmosphere. 

COURSES AND CREDENTIALS

Each course is worth 3 US credit hours (or 6 ECTS credits). Students enroll in 2 classes for a total of 6 US credits (or 12 ECTS credits). Students also take an informative and fun Spanish language and culture course for free. All courses are taught by highly-credentialed international professors. These courses are accredited by Pablo de Olavide University. Transcripts will be provided to each student upon completion for transfer back to their home institution. Classes will be taught in the English language. (Note: Students are advised to check with their home university registrar to ensure transfer credit will be approved).

ECON/POL 321 The European Union
The course will analyze the initial motives behind the creation of the European Community and its subsequent development into the European Union with a unique institutional structure. The students will study the EU’s key common policies - Economic and Monetary Union, Competition, Agriculture, External Trade, etc - and their global effects; paying special attention to E.U.-U.S. relations. Conducted in English.

SPAN 102 Elementary Spanish
This beginning course is designed for students with basic Spanish Knowledge. Emphasis is on building oral, reading and written communication skills and on acquiring knowledge of the Spanish speaking world. Conducted in Spanish.

SPAN 201 Intermediate Spanish
This course is designed for students who have had two semesters of university-level Spanish. Emphasis is on expanding vocabulary and building oral, reading and written communication skills as well as acquiring a greater awareness of the Spanish-speaking world. Conducted in Spanish.

BUS 315E International Business
In this course, students will acquire in-depth knowledge about the business cultures of the different European countries. Business relationships, economics and the business environment, protocol rules, politics, negotiation strategies and export procedures will be evaluated. Students will learn how to react to situations that multinational firms face in their international operations. This course combines lectures with in-class group exercises and case discussions. Conducted in English.

  • Seminars, guest speakers, and course materials: All study books and reading materials are provided. 
  • Accommodation: A combination of hostels, self-catering apartments, and homestays will be provided during the program. During your studies, students will live in pairs with a host family.
  • Meals: Meals at your homestays are taken care of during your stay in Seville. Some additional meals will be provided while traveling through other parts of Europe.
  • Ground transportation:

  • Guided tours of the cities: Bike Tour in Berlin and Munich plus additional walking tours in Seville, Graz etc.
  • GP Gear: Practice gear and coaching shirt  for events and team travel
  • Out of Bounds Tour: 7-10 day city hop through Austria and Germany where student-athletes have the opportunity to really impact international lacrosse development. All ground transportation included.
  • Networking opportunities and cultural christianevents: Throughout your stay you will meet many local and international business contacts. Make a good impression and secure future opportunities!

Site Visits: Class sessions will be followed by afternoon site visits to locally run, internationally operating businesses in Seville. Some site visits are scheduled while others will be arranged
by students based on their personal interests. Faculty and local staff will assist with making these connections and then the opportunity is yours for personal networking! 

TO APPLY: All candidates are required to complete the online application form. The application process is the same for all other programs with the exception of material submissions. You will be asked to complete a phone interview and submit two references, one academic and one athletic as part of the application process. Please be advised that your application will not be considered active until you submit the $75 application fee.
