Program Description:

NYC 

By choosing the Brooklyn, New York, U.S. Internship Program, participants will undertake a full-time unpaid placement, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This program allows U.S. students and recent graduates, as well as international students, to intern in the U.S. for up to 12 months. Graduates must start no more than 12 months after their official graduation date OR have 12 months work experience in their field. Non-U.S. students will be required to apply for a special J-1 Visa.

Your internship placement will be customized to you and your goals in your chosen field.  Our placement coordinators work with a large variety of companies and the organization you are placed with will be determined by many factors including company needs along with your education, experience and background.

Brief Description of Trainee/Intern's Role for this Program

PHASE 1:

Specific Tasks:

  • Review of general office systems
  • Review of software programs such as Quickbooks, etc. & training as needed
  • Review of office procedures and staff roles

Specific Goals and Objectives:

  • To teach the intern the financial and accounting techniques used in our office and to train him on all the functionality of Quickbooks and other software programs that are used for our customers

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted:

  • To learn U.S. accounting standards and learn how to more efficiently use quickbooks to handle customer reports and returns while understanding more fully the forms and procedures used in our office and on the whole within the United States vis-a-vis the U.K

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision:

  • Evaluation after two months to review the interns learning of the systems and software and determine if more training is necessary.

PHASE 2:

  • To teach the intern to accurately prepare financial, payroll and sales tax statements and reports
  • Financial Statement & Reports

Specific Tasks and Activities to be Completed:

  • Teach the intern to accurately enter necessary data for generating statements and reports
  • Teach the intern to accurately prepare financial statements
  • Teach the intern to accurately prepare payroll reports
  • Teach the intern to accurately prepare Sales Tax reports

Specific Goals and Objectives for this Program:

  • To ensure the intern is comfortable with producing reports and statements on his own with minimal supervision - accurately and timely.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted:

  • All manner of Financial statements and reports
  • All manner of Payroll data entry and report generation
  • All manner of tax preparation and report generation

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision:

  • Review after two months to make sure the intern can work more independently and produce accurate and timely reports and financial statements for our clients.

PHASE 3:

  • Prepare the intern for working during Tax season and preparing client returns

Specific Tasks and Activities:

  • Gather end of year tax information from clients
  • Compile and organize financials for preparation of tax returns
  • Corporate return preparation and filing
  • Company return preparation and filing
  • Personal return preparation and filing

Joint return preparation and filing Specific Goals and Objectives for:

  • To learn to accurately and in a timely fashion have the intern learn to prepare all manner of tax returns for our clients and over time begin to work more independently.

Knowledge, Skills, or Techniques to be Imparted:

  • Tax preparation of all manner of companies, corporations and LLC's, personal and joint returns and understand the intricacies of running an all around tax and accounting firm in the USA. He will understand how to generate P&L reports, research and learn tax code changes and issues facing our clients and learn to complete tax documents and file returns on time.

Methods of Performance Evaluation and Methods or Supervision:

  • Monthy evalation of the interns performance by checking over his work and completed returns for accuracy
  • Tax Preparation, returns and Filing Accounting and Financial systems and software training to ready the intern for more independent work in the office

Eligibility
  • Minimum of 2 years Undergraduate Study Completed
  • Currently enrolled as a under graduate or graduate student
  • Recent graduate are eligible if they start their internship within 12 months of their official graduation date 
  • Relevant academic background and/or work experience in desired field
