Business Russian language & internship (BRLI) program

Combining intensive language classes and substantive internships in Moscow or St. Petersburg, Russia or Almaty, Kazakhstan, the Business Russian Language & Internship (BRLI) program gives students valuable insight into the international workplace and prepares them to use Russian in a professional context.

Program Features

Offered in Moscow or St. Petersburg, Russia and Almaty, Kazakhstan

Available during Fall, Spring, Academic Year, and Summer (8 week) terms
 
15 – 20 hours per week of intensive coursework in business Russian language, commerce, communication, and business etiquette

15 – 20 hours per week at a substantive Russian-language internship

Internship disciplines include business & innovation, investment, marketing, journalism, STEM, and more
 
Participants earn 15-16 U.S. academic credits per semester (8-10 for summer) in Russian language and regional studies through Bryn Mawr College

Small class sizes (4 - 6 students), grouped by proficiency level; placement testing conducted at beginning of program

Housing with carefully-selected, experienced host families or university dorms; host families provide two meals per day

Weekly excursions to sites of historical and cultural significance, such as local businesses, theatres, museums, and exhibitions

Extended regional field study excursions outside the host city, led by U.S. resident directors; students in Russia have visited sites such as Volgograd and Saratov, while groups in Almaty have traveled to Astana and Ust-Kamenogorsk
 
Comprehensive health, accident, and evacuation insurance for all participants abroad

Eligibility Requirements

  • 4 semesters of college-level Russian language
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA
  • At least 18 years old by application deadline

Application Deadlines

Summer programs: February 15
Fall / Academic Year programs: March 15
Spring programs: October 15
