About Peking University

Peking University (PKU), founded in 1898, is consistently listed as one of the highest ranked universities in China. It is the university at the center of all major political and cultural movements in modern Chinese history.

Most students take courses at PKU’s School of Chinese as a Second Language (SCSL). Additionally, students with near-fluency in Mandarin (reading, writing, and speaking fluency) can take regular courses taught in Mandarin, such as Chinese literature, history, and philosophy. Language tutors are available at a reasonable cost.
