About Nelson Mandela University

Located in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela University was created in 2005 by the merger of the former University of Port Elizabeth and Vista University. Nelson Mandela University draws students from around the world, with more than 3,000 international students bolstering its student population of 27,000.

CSU IP students enroll directly at Nelson Mandela University, studying alongside local students and gaining the experience of being fully integrated into life at Nelson Mandela University and in South Africa. Students will primarily take coursework in their major, concentrating on one or two areas of study and taking courses in that department in order to integrate into the academic life of the university. The main language of instruction at Nelson Mandela University is English, and all CSU IP students are required to study the Xhosa language and culture each semester as part of their academic program.
