Program Description:
Grass Roots Development at the Roof of the World in Nepal
Immerse yourself in the rich Nepalese culture amongst breathtaking Himalayan scenery.

cover pokhara

Volunteer in a care centre or children’s home depending on your skills and local needs at that time. Nepalese traditions are an important part of local life that have remained largely unchanged in centuries, allowing you to fully experience life in this amazing country.

Upon your arrival into the beautiful country of Nepal, volunteers will have an orientation in the second largest city of Nepal and visit traditional Hindu and Buddhist sights. During this time, you have the chance to explore the area, live with a Nepali family, learn some basic Nepali and visit many of the local sights.
From this location we offer short-term volunteering starting from 2 weeks. We also offer internships which would include one-on-one mentoring and training by expert GVI staff and on longer durations can lead to job placements.

Our projects are focused on initiatives within our local communities, who have needs around education and improving educational facilities.

Volunteers can expect the following highlights on this program
  • spend your days working at a care centre leading games and activities and create art projects with the local children
  • Work at a children’s home helping with homework and playing sports.
  • Enjoy cultural immersion and home cooked meals in your home stay with a local Nepalese family
In Nepal children are frequently abandoned and found in horrible working conditions. If these children don’t have care centers to turn to, they wouldn’t receive an education and other crucial basic needs. GVI keeps numerous care centers in Nepal operating by providing needed funding and volunteer aide. These facilities provide children with the tools they need to have a better future.

If applying for this program to obtain credit from an institution, GVI can supply learning outcomes and support in the application.
Risk assessment available upon request, please contact GVI for more details.
