NYFA’s study abroad courses are open to students in all disciplines. Whether they are already budding filmmakers or actors, whether they want to learn how films are made, or what it takes to create a performance, students benefit from taking part in NYFA’s hands-on and intensive training programs. We welcome study abroad students who want to capitalize on the opportunity to integrate filmmaking, acting, and other visual arts disciplines with an international cultural experience. In addition to acting and filmmaking students, NYFA’s study abroad programs draw U.S. students from all relevant disciplines who are seeking the benefits of a hands-on and intensive arts education.

While English is the language of instruction at all NYFA locations, we welcome students from all over the world and have been since our inception. The multiplicity of global students means that U.S. students will not be studying in an American “bubble” as in many programs. The NYFA milieu environment offers a true international experience thanks to the richness of the convergence of so many varied cultures. U.S. students will interact with locals to organize their productions, and will work with many students who have English as second language.

NYFA Gold Coast offers hands-on and intensive short-term programs for Filmmaking & Acting for Film as well as long-term diploma programs and semester programs for Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Screenwriting, Animation, and Producing. These programs are taught by industry professionals. For a full list of dates, please click here.

LOCATION

NYFA GC Backlot Studios
NYFA GC Southport Campus

NYFA Australia’s Gold Coast (Queensland) campus is located in Southport at a state of the art facility(pictured top right). In addition to having the opportunity to do production work in the backlot of the renowned Village Roadshow Studies (pictured top left) as well as participate in hot sets at Warner Bros. Movie World, students will also be able to benefit from additional facilities at our Southport location.

Village Roadshow Studios is adjacent to Warner Bros Movie World. A vibrant and inspiring location, NYFA students are provided unique hands-on programs that are enhanced by the film industry environment surrounding the School. Village Roadshow Studios have been the location for many Hollywood films including San Andreas, Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean–Dead Men Tell No Tales, The Shallows, and Kong: Skull Island, among many others.

Southport is the leading Educational and Creative Arts precinct of the Gold Coast. Due to its proximity to the light rail transport and other student service amenities (libraries, shopping centers, immigration services, cafes, and restaurants), this is an ideal and convenient space for our students.

Through our collaboration with Warner Bros Movie World, film production hot sets will be installed on the grounds of the park for NYFA Australia students to sharpen their skills in the various elements of film craft using state-of-the-art, industry standard equipment under the guidance of NYFA Australia faculty and staff. The interactive hot sets can be found off the theme park’s Main Street, near Gotham City Hall. Guests visiting the park will be able to watch the magic of movie making up close and in action, which falls in line with the movie-centric attractions of the popular vacation spot. Some guests may even be asked to participate in the hot sets, and serve as on-camera performers in the scenes filmed.
