GHANA: Culture, History and the Arts

  • Eligibility:
    • Minimum GPA: 2.5
    • All Ramapo College students in good academic and judicial standing are eligible. Students of other U.S. colleges or universities are also eligible.

[COURSE OVERVIEW]


Course Description - "Global Field Experience: Ghana" (INTL 130)

This program will provide students with unique opportunities to travel and explore the vibrant and diverse country of Ghana, often recognized as the most stable democracy in Africa. Participants will witness some of the primary sites of the country. In partnership with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, students will engage in cultural and service learning activities.

[ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS]

  • Visit the W.E.B. Dubois Centre
  • Visit artist's galleries
  • Guided tour of the Manhyia Palace Museum
  • Interact with artisan's at the Kumasi Cultural Centre
  • Engage with kente weavers in Bonwire
  • Conduct a service project with a local NGO
  • Understand the past through a visit to Elimina and Cape Coast Castles

[ACCOMODATIONS & MEALS]


Students will reside in university guesthouse in Kumasi and hotels in Accra and Cape Coast.

[PROGRAM COST]


Program fee: $2900

Program fee includes: round-trip international airfare; comprehensive pre-departure and on-site orientation; Ghana entry Visa; health & security insurance; on-site accommodations; most meals; all excursions and entrance fees; and in-country program transportation.
Program fee does not include: Yellow Fever vaccination and other travel-related health needs; some meals; personal expenses

Late Fees : A late fee of $35 will be assessed for each payment not received by the payment deadlines communicated to you by the International Programs Office.
Note : There will be a 3-day grace period before a late fee is assessed.
