Program Information

Support children to reach their full educational potential by assisting early childhood staff in meeting the educational and social needs of their students. Early Childhood Education is a fun, high energy career field - come prepared to get stuck in, providing support, stimulation and education to children, ranging in ages from 1 through 3 years old. Build positive relationships, learn from an experienced local teacher, and develop your teaching skills while fostering enhanced Spanish language skills and confidence within a classroom.

This program ranges from 4-24 weeks and has start dates every Monday throughout the year.

Your fully-hosted experience includes sourcing of your internship placement, personalization of your project plan, airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals, and onsite student support. See our full list of fees and inclusions on our website.

Eligibility Requirements

Suitable for students and recent graduates with at least one year of higher education in a related field, such as early childhood education, teaching, education, special education, speech and language therapy, developmental psychology or social work.

This internship is conducted in either Spanish (if the intern speaks the language), or English (via a supervisor who speaks English, if the intern does not speak Spanish). However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. With the exception of fluent or native Spanish language speakers, all interns are required to attend 10 (complimentary) Spanish language lessons, within the first 2 weeks of their internship.

Internship Details

As an Early Childhood Education intern in Seville, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of different teaching practices, contribute creatively to the development of early learners, and acquire experience in a fun, high energy environment! Assist to engage students with age-appropriate games, activities and lessons, while building valuable skills to build your professionalism.

Interns passionate about teaching and education can expect to assist with preparing and developing class materials, resources, lessons and activities. Likewise, interns support professional education staff with the provision of mentorship and assistance for young learners, with a focus on their language and vocabulary development. Interns must demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm and patience, to foster positive social and learning experiences.

It is important to be aware that this internship is unavailable for holiday periods in July, August, and between Christmas and the New Year. Interns wishing to participate in this program will be required to work around these breaks.

Spanish language proficiency is not a requirement to join. However, interns should expect that a language barrier can still be encountered to a certain extent. Interns should be prepared for the very natural and normal frustration of not always understanding what is being said around them. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.

In all cases, interns should expect that the beginning of their internship experience will focus on settling in and gaining introductory knowledge. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.
