Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Intern and Study Abroad program in Tokyo lasts 6 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Japanese culture. Live, learn, and work in Tokyo!

Program Highlights

  • Internship Placements: CIEE offers the largest inventory of internship placements that align with your career aspirations.

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Tokyo will open doors for you to explore Japan’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.     

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Tour Asakusa and get a glimpse into traditional Tokyo with the historic Senso-ji Temple and its surrounding Nakamise shopping street
  • Visit the ""Electric Town"" of Akihabara, a heaven for tech enthusiasts, gamers, and anime/manga fans
  • Explore the latest fashion trends at Harajuku and Takeshita Street, the epicenter of youth culture and fashion in Tokyo
