About This Trip

Observation, Clinical, & Volunteer Experience
This program emphasizes guided learning, structured observation, and limited hands-on experience appropriate for undergraduate and pre-professional students. Participants engage in SLP shadowing in school and clinic settings, school-based screenings, therapeutic camp sessions, small-group simulations, and expert-led workshops focused on assessment tools, therapy strategies, and communication techniques. Learning is supported through observation debriefs, caregiver collaboration exposure, and direct mentorship from experienced professionals.

Learning Outcomes
This unique study abroad experience combines group travel with professional development for students in CSD, SLP, audiology, PT, OT, music therapy, and related fields. By the end of the program, participants will have:

Accommodations
Participants stay in comfortable shared accommodations with communal spaces, meeting areas, and outdoor spaces for relaxation. Rooms include individual beds and bathrooms, WiFi, fresh drinking water, and Western-style facilities. All transportation is provided via private bus or van with a dedicated driver. Meals are prepared by local cooks and feature a blend of Belizean and Western cuisine, with dietary needs accommodated in advance. Belize’s warm hospitality ensures a welcoming and supportive stay.
Airfare & Group Flights
International airfare is not included in the program cost. Therapy Abroad offers a chaperoned group flight, which most students choose for convenience and support, though independent travel options are available for those who prefer flexibility.
