Program Description:
The SIGE - Summer Internship + Academic Program is an 8-week experience in Seville, Spain that combines university-level coursework with a hands-on international internship. Students earn up to 6 U.S. credits, with the option of a School of Record transcript from the University of Montana, while gaining real-world professional experience in a Spanish organization. Participants attend class every Monday and complete 20 hours per week at their internship site from Tuesday to Friday. The program also includes cultural excursions, academic mentoring, and full support from the Spanish Institute student services team. This program is ideal for students who want an immersive, academically rigorous, and career-focused study abroad experience.

Spend your summer in Seville building your academic knowledge, strengthening your Spanish, and gaining real-world experience in a professional environment. The SIGE - Summer Internship + Academic Program is designed to help students grow personally and professionally while exploring one of Spain’s most vibrant cultural cities.

Students enroll in Introduction to Spain (3 credits) and Internship/Service Learning (3 credits), taking classes every Monday and participating in weekly mentorship sessions to support their internship experience. From Tuesday to Friday, students complete 160 hours of supervised internship or service-learning at a local organization matched to their interests.

Beyond the classroom and the workplace, students take part in 51 hours of academic excursions, cultural activities in Seville, and weekend trips across Andalusia, gaining a deeper understanding of Spain’s history and way of life.
