Internship Details

Education Internships provide students, teachers and young professionals with active experience in both lesson planning and English-language speaking classroom instruction. If you’re committed to providing quality education in a positive learning environment, this is for you!

As a teaching intern, come prepared to assist across multiple subjects, including Math, Science, History, and English. The internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive teaching experience, helping you gain a deeper understanding of the educational system in Nepal while also enhancing your skills as an educator.

You’ll be tasked with creating lesson plans tailored to the students’ needs, delivering lessons, and providing classroom management. Throughout your internship, you’ll have opportunities for professional development through workshops and training sessions aimed at improving your teaching practices.

Interns assist to support and collaborate with experienced teachers, who will offer feedback and guidance, allowing you to grow both personally and professionally. This is a dynamic internship where you’ll get the chance to teach, interact with students, and actively contribute to the school’s mission to educate and inspire.

Interns should expect that the first week of your experience will focus on settling in and gaining some introductory knowledge, to build an understanding of what you can develop, learn, and contribute. Interns are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback, so that your supervisor(s) understands how you’re progressing and can assist to develop your internship accordingly. Interns should expect that a language barrier can be encountered to a certain extent. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.

Academic Schedule & Holidays: In Nepal, the academic year is divided into terms, with breaks between them. The winter break occurs during February and March. The summer break occurs during July and August. Education internships are unavailable during these breaks.

Outside of key holiday periods, Education interns may experience some occasional public holiday disruptions, which impact the internship schedule. Local holidays will depend on the municipality and school management. On such dates, if schools are closed, alternative educational activities may be held at other locations, subject to availability.

Dashain is Nepal’s longest and most important Hindu festival, spanning about 15 days. Another festival, Tihar, spans for 5 days. Both the Dashain and Tihar festivals are scheduled according to the lunar calendar, so their dates change annually. Dashain usually occurs in September or October. Tihar usually occurs in October or November. Some academic institutions may announce combined vacations covering Dashain, Tihar, and sometimes Chhath (another festival), with contiguous leave declared for students. Education interns may participate during this period but should expect significant disruptions to their schedule.

Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 5+ hours per day.
