This internship is conducted in English. A language barrier could be encountered to a certain extent.

Internship Details

Join a Nursing internship in Kathmandu! If you’re seeking immersive observational opportunities, within a clinical hospital environment, this is for you. Nursing interns are integrated, through supervised, observational learning experiences.

This observation-based Nursing internship provides hospital experience, within a multi-specialty private facility in Kathmandu. The hospital is equipped with Nepal’s first modular operating theatre and provides a broad range of services, making it a valuable placement for students seeking clinical exposure.

Nursing interns observe hospital staff across different departments, including outpatient consultations, inpatient rounds, minor procedures, and case discussions when available. Interns are not directly responsible or engaged with “hands-on” patient care; however, the internship experience and role is dynamic, immersive, and educational, offering insight into healthcare delivery in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment.

Typical activities include observing consultations in outpatient and inpatient departments, attending ward rounds, watching minor surgical procedures, and learning about medical diagnostics and treatment protocols.

Nursing interns should expect that the first week of your experience will focus on settling in and gaining some introductory knowledge, to build an understanding of what you can develop, learn, and contribute. Interns in clinical medical environments are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback, so that your supervisor(s) understands how you’re progressing and can assist to develop your internship accordingly. A language barrier may be encountered to a certain extent. Come prepared and willing to surmount a language barrier (and ask for help when needed), as opposed to being intimidated by it.

Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, up to 40 hours per week. Specific tasks and schedules may vary based on hospital needs.
