Program Description:
Join APA for a dynamic six-week academic and cultural journey that brings together the shared history of French and Moroccan societies.

The APA Franco-Arab Summer Program invites students to examine the deep historical and contemporary ties between France and North Africa while building strong French language skills. The program offers two complementary courses: an English-taught interdisciplinary seminar on Franco-Arab encounters and an intensive French language course (beginner or intermediate). Over six weeks, students divide their time between Paris and Rabat, engaging in rigorous coursework, meaningful immersion, and guided excursions led by experienced faculty and local partners.

Experiential Learning & Excursions: Classroom learning is enriched through site visits and excursions to Marseille, Versailles, Casablanca, Tangier, and Tetouan, offering students a rare opportunity to explore the intertwined histories, languages, and lived experiences that shape today’s Francophone world.

Housing & Cultural Immersion: Students deepen cultural understanding and build meaningful local connections by living in a community-based student residence (foyer) in Paris and through a host family stay in Rabat.

Research & Independent Study Opportunities: Students may choose to use the summer to explore an early research or independent study project alongside their experiences in Paris and Rabat. Those interested can return to Paris for an optional two-week extension to continue independent work or research.
