Program Description:
SEMESTER IN ATHENS
OVERVIEW
Experience an immersive academic and cultural adventure in Athens with University of Nicosia Global Semesters. The program is hosted at the University of Nicosia’s Athens Riviera site located at The Ellinikon, the first phase of an exciting, evolving campus project within the largest coastal and luxury urban development project underway in Europe.

The Ellinikon will, upon completion, become a cutting-edge smart city with state-of-the-art sustainable parks and paths,  millions of square feet of sports facilities, retail, and integrated resort accommodations. 

Students at UNIC Athens enjoy close proximity to the beach, modern amenities on site, and quick metro access to downtown Athens.

Along with engaging classes, participants experience Athens in ways that reflect its deep historical roots and vibrant modern life in the city center, while benefiting from spending their semester on the Athens Riviera – the best of both worlds – urban vibrance in the historical city center and breathtaking beach vibes near campus!

UNIC Athens is within walking distance from:
 
  • a variety of sports facilities including padel, beach volleyball, basketball, tennis and futsal, coastal running and biking paths
  • a major supermarket/hypermarket
  • the retail, cafes and restaurants of the Athens Riviera beachfront and exclusive Glyfada and Vouliagmeni areas
  • The Ellinikon Metro Station (the Acropolis is 14 minutes metro ride from this station)

CURRICULUM  

Students choose courses for up to 30 ECTS from the catalog of regularly scheduled Spring and Fall semester courses offered at the University of Nicosia Athens.

Final course schedules are posted shortly before each semester begins. You can get an idea of potential courses to be offered by looking at what is usually offered each term:

EXCURSIONS  

Excursions & Learning Beyond the Classroom

Throughout the semester, students take part in a thoughtfully designed set of excursions in Athens and beyond that complement coursework and introduce them to Greece’s landscapes, communities, and cultural traditions. These experiences balance guided exploration with time for independent discovery, helping students understand Greece not only through its history, but through everyday life.


HOUSING  

All students are housed in fully-furnished and equipped shared apartments in Athens city center. 
Apartments are located near metro stations for easy access to UNIC Athens campus (~15 minutes or less).
UNIC Athens is located right next to the Ellinikon metro station. Housing is randomly assigned.
