Academic Breakdown
This program is hybrid, with classes at Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO) and the Expanish Study Center. You'll earn 6 U.S. semester credits through a combination of online and in-person coursework.

Credits & Course Structure
2 U.S. credits from the Research Methodology Course at FLACSO, 2 weeks online plus 6 weeks in-person
3 U.S. credits from your Research Project & Fieldwork, 6 weeks
1 U.S. credit from the Spanish Language Course at Expanish, 18 hours total, required for all participants
FLACSO coursework is offered in Spanish or English depending on your research focus. Expanish Spanish courses run from Beginner to Advanced.
FLACSO Fieldwork
Choose a research topic aligned with your academic interests, including: Latin American Studies & Social Justice, Sustainability, Environment & Territory, or Political Participation, Human Rights & Memory
Research Mentoring: meet weekly for 1 hour with your research mentor through FLACSO
Projects can be completed in English or Spanish, though Spanish opens up more opportunities
Program Requirements
Open to students in good academic standing, especially those in social sciences, international studies, or cultural research
No prior Spanish required, though it expands your research options
Full engagement expected across the online and in-person portions of the program
Official transcripts issued for all coursework completed
