Global Sustainable City: Summer Program

One summer, a whole city as your case study.

Spend your summer in dynamic Madrid, a European capital leading conversations on urban sustainability, cultural heritage management, environmental resilience, and human rights. Earn up to 6 U.S. semester credits while examining how cities balance environmental responsibility, cultural preservation, and social progress in the 21st century.

Learn Sustainability & Social Innovation

Academic Breakdown

Students enroll in one Spanish language course, strongly encouraged for deeper immersion, and one or two content courses taught in English at the Expanish Study Center. Enroll in two courses for a total of 6 credits.

This summer, we're offering:

  • Madrid the Global City: Sustainability Design (Art History, Management)
  • Art and Resistance in Contemporary Madrid (Art History, Social Studies)
  • A History of LGBTQ+ Rights in Spain (Gender Studies, Social StudieAnthropology, Food Studies)
  • Open to undergraduates in good academic standing
  • No prior Spanish required, all content courses are taught in English
  • Designed to be interdisciplinary, students from any major are welcome
  • Full-time enrollment across chosen coursework required for the summer term
